The Plane
The plane....the nightmare. I had been dreading the plane ride ever since we decided to spend Christmas in Colorado... so for SEVERAL months!!!! We thought we had it all worked out.Brady was going to fly with us girls into Denver and then he would continue on to California for work and my family would pick us up and take us to my parent's house. We would leave out of Newport News first thing in the morning and be in Colorado in time for a late afternoon nap. HA...HA...HA! We got a call the night before saying that our flight had been cancelled! They went ahead and routed Brady to California and sent me with the two girls to Atlanta and then to Minneapolis and then to Denver. Panic set in!!! Poor Brady spent an hour working it out and we were all booked together leaving at 6:30 AM. At 3:30 AM we got a call telling us that our flight had been cancelled again. Again they routed Brady to California and me to Atlanta then Detroit and then Denver. You can imagine how that went over!!!! Brady worked it out AGAIN. Now we are leaving out of Richmond a little later but we can make it work. Our kids are not the kids that get in the plane and pass out..... they are the kids that you see in the terminal and pray that 1. they are not on your plane and 2. if they are you are not sitting by them!!!! They are just SUPER busy. I was done after the Richmond to Atlanta leg. We hit Atlanta running, literally. We each had a kid under our arm and ran from the gate to the tram to the terminal farthest from where we landed just to have the door closed in our face... really. We missed our flight. We watched the plane pull away. Sound familiar Carmen :) Okay so we have a couple of hours to kill!! Taylor was full of energy and then the wrestling started... then the tears. We finally got on a packed flight not seated together. Hayden pitched such a fit that an incredibly sweet woman volunteered to switch an aisle for a window just to make her stop!!! It was ugly! I felt like Kate Gosslin on her trip to Utah well with a lot less kids. Drinks were spilled, seats were kicked, and threats were whispered.... yup that's right....it was bad. At the end of the flight Brady and I were SO TIRED but we had to laugh when we landed. The side wall of the plane was covered in stickers and Brady was wearing candy necklaces! What a daddy will do for his little girls!!!!! We banked on them watching TV- so wrong. We were so thankful that our luggage made it and that Aunt Nicole was waiting for us! That was the beginning of the trip :) No pics needed for that memory!!!!
